Privacy statement

The short version

BudgetClick has no accounts and no database. Your financial data is encrypted on your device and stored in a bucket that you own. We cannot read it, and we cannot recover it.

What we collect

We do not collect your transactions, accounts, categories, contractors, attachments, passphrase or encryption key. They never reach us in readable form.

Where your data lives

  • On your device: a decrypted working copy in the browser's IndexedDB, so the app works offline. The encryption key derived from your passphrase is also saved here. The passphrase itself is not saved.
  • In your storage: encrypted objects in the S3-compatible bucket you provide. The only readable object is the salt, which is not secret.

The storage relay

Browsers cannot talk to S3 directly, so the app sends requests through a small relay hosted at liteed.com. The relay receives your bucket address, the object name and the encrypted object, and passes them on to your bucket. It does not keep your data and does not authenticate you. It cannot read the contents of what it relays.

Like any web host, the infrastructure behind the relay and this website can record technical request details, such as IP address and time.

Your bucket address

The address of your bucket works as an access key. Anyone who has it can read and overwrite objects in that bucket. Use a bucket dedicated to BudgetClick and do not share the address. Because everything stored is encrypted, a person who obtains the address sees only unreadable objects, and any tampering is detected when the app decrypts them.

Your passphrase

The passphrase is used once on your device to derive the key. It is never uploaded. BudgetClick cannot reset or recover it. If you lose both the passphrase and the key saved on your device, your data cannot be recovered.

This landing page does not use analytics or advertising cookies.

Open source

BudgetClick is open source under the MIT license. You can read the code, including the encryption and the relay, at github.com/MichaelZelensky/budgetclick-2026 and verify these statements yourself.

Your control

You can delete your data at any time by clearing the app's data in your browser and deleting the objects in your bucket. We hold no copy.
